Coffee Beans, Kappi Kuru, Robusta Coffee Beans
Coffee beans are the seeds taken from coffee plants and the source of the world’s most widely consumed beverage called coffee. The two main varieties of coffee plantations are Arabica and Robusta. The bulk of worldwide coffee production is that of Arabica and merely 30% counts for Robusta. Even though these coffee beans look the same when roasted, the two varieties differ in taste, growing conditions, productivity and price.
Roasted Robusta beans produce a strong, full-bodied coffee with a distinctive, earthy flavour, but usually with more bitterness than Arabic. They contain twice as much caffeine as Arabica beans and grows at lower altitudes and slightly more rainfall (2200-3000 mm/yr) with warmer temperatures of 18°-36°C (64-97°F). They are slightly taller and have a height of 4.5-6.5 meters (8.2-21.3 ft). In terms of yield, Robusta produces more coffee per hectare than Arabica and hence the cost of production is much less. It is mostly grown in Vietnam, India, Africa and Brazil.
These top quality polished Robusta beans are collected from the South Indian state of Kerala, Wayanad district.
